Brands I love

My holy grail make up essentials

Do you ever find those products that you use once and can never imagine your life without again, well that’s what this list is all about. I use a variety of different brands consisting of both budget and high end price tag and have tried a million and one different kinds of each product under the sun. To help you guys search for your go to products I have done the tough, near impossible task of choosing my ultimate holy grail, can’t imagine life without and go to product of each type of make up I use. Here it goes……..

Best Primer; Too Faced Hangover Primer $48.00  Available at http://mecca.com.au

This primeris the ultimate skin pick me up and a primer all in one. It leaves your skin feeling nourished and hydrated and creates a dewy base for your make up application. Not only does it make your skin feel great, it ensures that your flawless make up look lasts you all day and night.

Best Foundation; L’Oréal True Match Foundation $29.95  Available at https://www.priceline.com.au

foundation If I was stranded on a desert island and I could only take three things this would be one of them, I love it that much. It has a large shade range so is suitable for so many different skin tones. The foundation is a medium coverage that is extremely light weight and super blend able, I personally apply it with my fingers but a foundation brush works just as well. This foundation leaves your skin with an illuminating  shine as well as a dewy finish and sets perfectly in place with a setting powder.

Best Concealer; Kiko Milano Full Coverage Concealer $12.00 (US)  Kiko Milano doesn’t ship to Australia

Full Coverage Concealer 01Hopefully you know someone who lives in America or Europe because unfortunately this brand doesn’t ship to Australia. I discovered this brand when I was travelling in Italy and it is amazing, I think I bought their store out. Its super affordable make up for amazing quality. If I had known how amazing this concealer was I would have purchased more than one, cause
I have nearly run out (insert sad face). This is a full coverage cream concealer which is very thick and designed to cover imperfections and blemishes, but I break the beauty rules on this one and use it under my eyes. It eliminates my under eye circles and keeps me looking like I haven’t just fallen out of bed.

Best Face Powder;
Sephora Collection 8hr Mattifying Pressed Powder $25.00  Available at http://www.sephora.com.au

What’s not to powder-2love when you find a pressed powder that doesn’t change the colour of your foundation or give off a pale tone to your face. I use a large powder brush to lightly dust this powder over my face to set my foundation, leaving a matte skin finish. The colour range is extensive so their are endless options for varying skin tones. Also if anyone is like me and loves a product that smells really good when you apply it then this one is for you.

Best Bronzer/Contour; Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer $51.00 Available at http://www.sephora.com.au

hoolaEven in the dead of winter, this cult classic brings the bronze and adds endless warmth to your face. Its highly pigmented and it’s matte finish creates a defining contour. I apply this powder not with the brush provided but with an angled blush brush ( Make up store; 501 angled blush brush), as it allows a more precise application under the cheekbones.

Best Blush; NARS Blush in shade Orgasm $44.00  Available at http://mecca.com.au

i-000763-blush-orgasm-1-940I must admit I am extremely late to discovering how amazing this blush is, but now I am its number one fan. The shade ‘orgasm’ gives a shimmery rosy colour when applied to the apples of your cheeks. The blush is incredibly pigmented so you barely need to apply any to get maximum colour impact, which also means it lasts you forever, but that never stops me buying new products between now and then does it ?

Best Highlighter/Illuminator; TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer $29.95  Available at http://www.sephora.com.au

We work shighlightero hard to mattify and de-shine our face, but then we light it up with high impact highlighter, this one brings on the shine. It’s incredibly pigmented so you need to be gentle handed with this one as to not turn on the high beams blinding your admirers with your brightness. Honestly though this is an amazing highlighter that I personally apply to the bridge of my nose, the temples of my forehead, my cheekbones, my cupids bow, in between my eyebrows and on my chin.

Best Eyebrow Product; Urban Decay Brow Tamer Gel $33.00 Available at http://mecca.com.au

browsI must be honest, I don’t actually have a holy grail eyebrow product !!!!! I have tried so many different brands, ranging from your pencils to your gels, the pomades to the powders and I am yet to fall head over heels with any of them. However my latest discovery that’s growing into a fav is Urban Decay’s brow tamer gel. It’s a coloured brow gel that you apply after you have filled in your brows with either a pencil or a powder first. Not only does it set them hard into place fixing all the strays into line but it also evens out the colour that you have filled in. The brush applicator is fairly small which makes for a precise application. Please fill free to let me know any eyebrow products that I should try next.

Best Eyeshadow Product; Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette $83.00 Available at http://mecca.com.au

I agree with the naked-3entire make up world when I say this is the BEST MAKE UP PRODUCT EVER !!!!!!!! The shadows are highly pigmented and really pack a bunch in the colour department. All the colours in this palette are almost too beautiful to use and there are endless possibilities to discover when you create your eye artwork. They blend out like a dream and contain both matte and shimmer products that work both as base colours and highlights.

Best Eye Liner; Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil $33.00 Available at http://mecca.com.au

I have found myeye-pencil soul mate in yet again another Urban Decay product. I own three of these pencils and they are my go to when I want to apply an eyeliner in the waterline that isn’t going to scratch away at my delicate eyes. They glide on (go figure) like a dream and truly last all day, even in the waterline. There is a large shade range in these pencils which allow for any look whether if you want to create a smouldering smoky eye (perversion) or a crazy colourful work of art (electric) there are endless choices.

Best Mascara; Covergirl The Supersizer Mascara $17.95 Available at https://www.priceline.com.au

This mamascarascara lives up to it’s name it creates lashes were they previously weren’t before. Not only does it give length and volume, it also defines and colours them jet black. The wand is very fine, which separates and lengthens your lashes when you twist the wand outwards from your lashes and is perfect for the lower lash line to get right into the corner of the eye. I also love the price tag on this one, it just goes to show that it’s not always the most expensive products that are the best.

Best Lip Liner; Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil $33.00 Available at http://mecca.com.au

lip-pencilA lipstick without a lip liner is an absolute no no, lip liners make your lip colour much neater and gives a more precise application. The urban decay liners are so smooth and easy to apply and are designed to match perfectly with their range of lipsticks. Helpful tip; always use a sharpened pencil to make sure you accurately trace the exact shape of your lips.

Best Lipstick; Kat Von D Studded Lipstick $31.00 Available at http://www.sephora.com.au

lipstickThese are the creamiest, dreamiest and yummiest lipsticks in existence. They are so smooth to apply, have a matte finish and smell insanely delicious. They have an amazing colour range including some crazy bold colours (halo) and some dreamy nudes (agatha). The colour itself is full on paint my lips a new colour that lasts for ages on the lips.

Best Make Up Setting Spray; Australis Make Up Finishing Spritz $15.95 Available at https://www.priceline.com.au

sprayI love finishing my look with a refreshing spray that’s going to make my make up last longer. This facial spritz contains rose water which has the most heavenly sweet smell that is so refreshing for your skin and face. Works best when you spray it directly after you have applied your base products as well as a spritz after you have applied all your make up. It also works really well as a refreshing face mist throughout the day to give your skin the glow and shine it needs.
